How local manufacturing brings speed and agility to Ruuvi’s everyday operations

Ruuvi Innovations Oy is a Finnish technology company that develops intelligent wireless sensors for monitoring environmental conditions. Founded in 2016, the company operates from Riihimäki, Finland, and its products are already used in over 150 countries by both consumers and businesses.

Ruuvi’s most well-known solution is RuuviTag, a versatile Bluetooth sensor that measures temperature, humidity, air pressure, and movement. RuuviTag is designed to be easy to use, it can be placed in a summer cottage, greenhouse, warehouse, or even a refrigerator, providing real-time environmental data directly to a mobile app. The device is suitable for both everyday consumers and professionals, and its use can be expanded to include remote monitoring and alerts. With its long battery life and durable construction, RuuviTag is a reliable companion in changing conditions.

Last year, Ruuvi expanded its product portfolio by launching Ruuvi Air, an indoor air quality monitor designed to track indoor environmental conditions. Ruuvi Air measures carbon dioxide levels, fine particles, VOC compounds, temperature, and humidity, giving users a clear overview of indoor air quality. In practice, this means you can easily detect stale air, excessive humidity, or high levels of fine particles—and react accordingly. Ruuvi Air complements the existing sensor family and responds to the growing need for more accurate and real-time indoor air quality monitoring, bringing peace of mind to homes, offices, and even classrooms.

In 2024, Ruuvi’s revenue totaled €2.4 million, and the company employs approximately 15 people.

Partners in Finnish technology expertise

When Ruuvi began considering moving its production from a previous supplier to Finland, the goal was to find a domestic, agile, and straightforward partner that could support the company’s growth and ensure reliable deliveries. Bevenic met this need with a flexible operating model, a suitably sized organization, and strong Finnish manufacturing expertise.

Starting point: the need for domestic and flexible production

Ruuvi did not experience major issues with its previous manufacturing partner, but bringing production to Finland was seen as strategically important. At the same time, the company wanted to improve cost efficiency, shorten response times, and increase transparency. Smooth practical processes and the ability to work directly with the right people—without a heavy organizational structure—were also key priorities.

According to Ruuvi, collaboration with Bevenic quickly created a feeling of being “on the same team,” working together on a shared project.

Solution: a smooth production transfer and an open operating model

Bevenic took responsibility for manufacturing Ruuvi’s electronics and carried out the production transfer to Kuopio in a phased and controlled manner. The collaboration is based on openness and a hands-on approach: Bevenic communicates directly and quickly, and the cost structure is transparent, both in terms of components and work phases.

The operating model used by Ruuvi and Bevenic—where some components are sourced by Ruuvi and others by Bevenic—required smooth material flow management. This was achieved naturally, and Bevenic’s quality assurance and precise assembly ensured high-quality and reliable sensor electronics. According to Ruuvi, the production transfer was surprisingly easy.

“It was important for us to find a partner similar to our own company—one we can genuinely work with, without unnecessary intermediaries or complicated processes. With Bevenic, communication is straightforward: we can call the right person directly and things move forward quickly. The move to Finland went surprisingly smoothly, and from the very beginning, it has felt like we’re on the same side, working on a shared project.”

Results: speed and flexibility through domestic production

Moving production to Finland has brought tangible benefits to Ruuvi. Deliveries are fast, and the Kuopio factory is easily accessible—if needed, it’s possible to visit the site on the same day. The opportunity to participate in the production process on-site increases transparency and strengthens trust.

Ruuvi’s customers value domestic manufacturing, and Bevenic’s flexible responsiveness makes it easier to meet growing demand. The collaboration has also created significant potential for the future, for example in expanding assembly operations or developing material flows.

Looking ahead: deeper collaboration and joint development

Ruuvi sees Bevenic as an important and reliable manufacturing partner in the future, whose flexible way of working supports the company’s growth. The collaboration will be deepened especially in the development of testing processes, utilizing both Ruuvi’s testers and Bevenic’s technical expertise. Bevenic’s ability to respond quickly and tackle development areas together with the customer reinforces the sense of a genuine partnership.

Proactivity is already evident in areas such as packaging solutions and material flow ideation. Bevenic does not operate merely as a manufacturer, but as an active developer who views the bigger picture from Ruuvi’s perspective. Thanks to these strengths, the collaboration has been built on a solid foundation, and Ruuvi sees Bevenic’s role expanding even further in the future.

“Working with Bevenic feels like a true partnership. They don’t just manufacture products for us, they actively participate in development, challenge solutions, and help us build better and more scalable production processes. This is exactly the kind of support we expect from a partner.”
